PPSMI

When I read the paper a few days back, I was frustrated that PPSMI was going to be taken off the shelves and will be put in the rubbish cans...

PPSMI - english in science & math

Why?Why?Why?

Its not a bad thing...It will make them understand better

The good...
  1. It will make science and math easier to understand - there are all kind of formulas that uses the english language, for example M=mass, h=height and many more...it makes it more easier to remember
  2. Some science and math jargon's that gets translated to bm is just weird - we should familiarize ourselves with the jargon to better compete with the outer world
  3. There are a lot more sources in english, so students will need a better understanding of these subjects in english
  4. The kids are still fresh, so they can still absorb better...Its better to teach them when they're young then when they are too old to learn...the younger the better...
The so called bad...
  1. Teachers don't have a good basis of the english language, thus causing more problems in classes - this shouldn't be a problem...your teachers for god's sake, you should do more better...this problem would not happen if these teachers were taught in english when they were students, right?
  2. Kids from kampungs gain disadvantage from PPSMI - WTF!- to me, they're gaining a whole lot more advantages...PPSMI actually forces them to learn english, isn't that better then them not learning at all? I know for a fact that some places has anti-english individuals...and these individuals are feeding people that they should not learn english because we are on malay land...This is not good...Kids should learn as much as possible...aren't adults responsible for the youth's education?...if you can't understand, then a bring along a dictionary la...
  3. Some people say that we are forgeting more and more of our own mothertongue - WTH! - correct me if I'm wrong here, are we not teaching the other subjects in Malay (like kemahiran hidup, sejarah, geografi and so on)...Is that no enough for you...It's school people!...you need to learn...of course I have come across some malaysian kids that can't speak malay becoz the environment in which they're parents only speak in English to them...its sad, we should do something about those kind of parents...This isn't about the Malaysian identity, its about education
But,everyones got there own opinion...and please don't compare ourselves with countries like Japan - they are able to use nihong go (japanese language) and still be among the frontrunners in technology - that is maily because they themselves make the technology (not by copying other countrie's technology) and they have a full arsenal of already translated books - we are just not there yet...we still depends on others

but thats only my two cents....

Shoppimg Complex

To begin with...There are too many freaking shopping malls in Malaysia

You just need to go to the Bkt Bintang area to see millions of shopping complexes... There is a shopping mall next to another shopping mall...There are even a shopping mall between two shopping malls...haha...Pavillion, Lowyat, Sungei Wang, Imbi Plaza, KL Plaza, Times Square and those are the ones that I can remember...In only one already packed place

Malaysia has too much shopping complex!!

Can't we think of something else to do with the land? A park where we can breath the fresh air (the fresh air of cars passing by..haha) ...or a carpark that only cost rm1 per entry (priority!...haha) or anything laa

Train Service in Malaysia - Komuter Pt 2

First off, I would like to congratulate the management for a job well done...Since last week, the komuter has been running quite smoothly. But there are still some technical problems here and there & they still stop in between stations...I will still give gratitude to where it is due.

There is just a few things that I would like to add though...

This is concerning whenever there is "technical problem" and there is gonna be a delay on the train...These kind of delays will cause the increase of passengers on the platform, and in their minds they are thinking:
  1. "I have to get on this next train or I'll have to wait another 30 minutes" - they have already wasted 30 minutes waiting for the previous "technical problem" train, so if they don't get on the next one, they've just wasted an hour just waiting...
  2. "Screw those old people, I have a life, so I need to go home faster" - people are getting desperate... its the law of the jungle all over again, no one is spared...old people, pregnant women or even handicapped people - you do not want to be around these people (not all la, some are really nice, but against the masses of people rushing to get in the train, there isn't much that you can do)
  3. "I have to cut Qs, to make sure I get a chance to go in" - there will be a lot of Qs. Its like in traffic jams, suddenly a new lane appears out of nowhere...
  4. "I have to get the right moment to get in, where are the hot ladies..." - perverts love crowded places...its so crowded, that you will feel someone rubbing up next to you...so ladies beware!! I recommend ladies to put in a fake penis in their panties, so when the pervert is rubbing against you, let them feel the fake penis...haha...you will be laughing your ass off and gain some extra room...haha
Problems that caused the delay of trains will make problems. What about providing a spare train? Sounds good enough for me...

Movie - Felon

Felon was released in 2008, which depicts life in prison. The movie's main character is Wade Porter (Stephen Dorff) who is thrown into jail for killing two robbers who tried to harm his family. He is then mentored by John Smith (Val Kilmer, who gave a award worthy performance).

"You are just a visitor, this is my world. Till death do us part"
John Smith telling Wade Porter

John Smith is famous for killing the thugs that murdered his family and then he went and killed the family of these thugs. So he is sentenced to life in prison. Prison is his world now. He teaches the new fish Wade Porter about prison politics. Prison is all about race. Rival gangs will forget about their feud and join together as long as they have the same color of skin. Then Wade Porter has to deal with a few conflicts:
  1. the guards who forces him to fight with someone else, so they can bet on him
  2. the mother of his child; who is having problems on the outside and wants a separation
  3. dealing with people from the Aryan Brotherhood
A good movie with a happy ending. Enjoy!

Book - Bartimaeus Trilogy

A series of three books (thus the word trilogy), created by Jonathan Stroud. The universe of this serie is a world where wizards rule. The main story is based in England, where all the important post including the Prime Minister are all wizards. All these wizards will take up a apprentice to train them to also work for the govt. and another thing, all these wizards can summon djinnis or demons and make it do their bidding.

So the three main characters are:
  1. Bartimaeus - A mid level djinni that has a fascinating history. A djinni that has many names and is written frequently about in history books. Became the main djinni for Mandrake, a wizard.
  2. Nathaniel or John Mandrake - An apprentice in the first book and became a full-fledge minister in the second. Summon Bartimaeus as his first djinni. Naive at first but gradually became a bit arrogant and big-headed.
  3. Kitty Jones - A commoner and rebel. Rebelled against how the wizards treat commoners as lower beings.
This is the first book that I can remember that uses a djinni as a main character. We can see the growth of the main characters develop nicely. Some famous people that you might heard off also make a cameo in this trilogy. Its a good read and a book that I would recommend.

Movie - Transformer - Revenge of the Fallen

My heart broke into pieces and was stomp by people going out of the movie theatre. I would like to sue the guy who made this...Its an embarrassment to the first movie. Only the likes of Megan Fox could make me stay in my seat...even though she didn't get naked (Damn!), she was the highlight of the movie.

Things I like about the movie:
  1. Megan Fox's hotness
  2. Old tin can - JetFire
  3. the hot girls at the frat party
Things I hate about the movie:
  1. too many underused characters - Jazz, Ironhide...where are you guys?
  2. I really don't like Shia LaBeouf as an actor, sorry...
  3. no heart pumping moment...
  4. Sam's roomate...extra baggage
  5. why does the movie use a lot of the army...its a robot war, people....
  6. too much hype for a so-so movie
and I even bought the tickets early...and this is how you reward me?that is just too damn cruel, man...

Book - The Wheel of Time

A fantasy series, which up till today has 11 books and one extra prequel book. and there are about 3 more books that will come out...The series was created by a guy with the pen name Robert Jordan, which died in 2007. As the series wasn't finalized at the time of his death, his work is now being continued by Brandon Sanderson (who also created the Mistborn Series - which is quite good, but maybe next time)

I'm not gonna give you a full synopsis of the series...may I remind you there are 11 books and 3 more to follow. The background of the book is a mythical place kinda like the one in Lord of the Rings, but without the talking trees and no gnomes and no hobbit too. But there are snake like creatures & fox like creatures. A world where a women with gifts (powers) are controlling the world from behind. A world where a chosen one will rid the world from the greatest evil. Where fate plays a big role.

To me its a good book...but initially I was not that quite interested, but it keeps getting better and better...the series is famous because of its all so many characters...So at first I read only the part with my then favourite character = Perrin Goldeneye...then I got reading about Matt Cauthon, which became my current favourite...then the stories of each individuals keep on interacting with each other, so it cause me to read the pages that involve the other characters...then in the end, I read the book from start to end without missing a page

The thing that you have to know about this book:
  1. Its great...
  2. It progress slowly, but it will get better and better
  3. the characters in this serie seems to fall in love with each other to quickly
  4. the girls in this series are whiny & bitchy...haha...seriously
  5. there are a lot of characters and you will have to know all the names
  6. Its great...
  7. there seems to be no main characters
  8. Its great
The following are among the characters in here:
  1. Rand Al'Thor - the main hero of the series, the so called best of the best, the dragon reborn, a bit crazy coz he hear voices in his head (a sign of madness), open to polygamy, can't handle the pressure
  2. Matt Cauthon - coolest guy ever, he smokes, drinks, lucky in cards and gets the ladies...haha...a bit mad too, coz he hear voices in his head too...irresponsible and loves to swear
  3. Perrin GoldenEye - the man with the soul of a wolf (please read the book to understand), the strong and silent type. The first out of the three to get married and has some infection in his eyes that cause it to be yellow...haha
  4. Moiraine - hot chick, royal lineage, try to control Rand, Matt & Perrin coz these guys are freaking important...and shes a bitchy...hot
  5. Nynaeve - bitchy...bitchy..bitchy...she thinks she is right all the time...need to attend anger management classes...hot
  6. Elayne - A princess...also a bitch but not too much...thinks too highly of herself...hot
  7. Egwene - bitchy but understanding and shes hot too
  8. Lan - A king without a kingdom...Moiraine's bitch...haha...the silent, poker face type...if only he could play cards...
  9. Thom Merrilen - Old dude...good entertainer...good spy...good lover...good knife thrower
these are only a few of the characters and with my own assessment.

But seriously its a good book...and anyway reading is cool!

Bus Service in Malaysia - RapidKL

A few years back, I went to and from work using the overhyped rapidKL (thats the name of the bus for those who don't know) I use to work in damansara but i lived at the Kepong area. So my journey from work to home using this service is as followed:
  1. Walk a couple of minutes to the nearest bus stop that provides rapidKL buses which is heading towards 1 utama (about 15 minutes)
  2. There use to be no shelter to wait for the bus, so rain or heat, I welcomed it with a open hand and some swearing under my voice.
  3. There are specific buses that will head to 1 Utama. Why am I taking a bus to 1 Utama? Its because there are no buses that go straight to my residential area & 1 Utama is like the middle point to connect buses.
  4. Go on the bus and pay up rm2 for any destination 0r show the ticket that you bought earlier. Its like this. Basic stuff when using the rapidKL bus service: Tickets that you get after paying can be used again & again for the whole day. Have you noticed that in front of the bus number, there is always a U (don't remember but it does not stand for unlocal) or T (tempatan/local). Ok...The ticket that you get from a U bus can only be used again on another U bus. and the same goes for the T buses too. So if you're like me, I will be using a U rapidKL bus...in which I will get a ticket...
  5. The bus will go thru TTDI, which is always full of cars, then finally reaching 1 Utama, there is a bus hub...so wait...wait...and wait...go inside to get a pack of smokes...wait...wait...read a leftover paper...wait...wait...kenyit2 mata at the chicks (like they would go for a guy who uses the bus huh...)...wait...wait...
  6. finally...do not have to rush to get on the bus, becoz the driver is resting for a bit...
  7. after he finish resting, show him the ticket that I bought earlier (this was a U bus) and sit down la
  8. then finally reach home, not so sweet home... Wasted too much time on the bus...too tired to go out...
ladies and gentleman, here is the time from A to B =

car(no traffic jams) = 15 minutes
car(with traffic jams) = 45 minutes
bus(including waiting period) = 2 hours
bus(without waiting period) = 1 hour
personal helicopter = time not available...
if I could afford a personal heli, I wont be working there then, would I...

So, what should the management do to improve services?
  • provide more buses
  • provide better routes for the buses (don't make me take two buses la)
  • friendlier drivers
  • a shorter waiting period
but we can't really do much about the buses, can we? They are also affected by the famous Traffic Jams, which infects all of KL & Selangor.

Rain, rain go away
come again another day
little arthur wants to play

Traffic Jam, traffic jam go away

come again another day
little low income dude is f**king late today

but this was all two years back...there are now roofs for the bus stop...there is also a tv on the bus which repeats the same advertisement (WOW...haha...)
thats all I know, because I will avoid taking the bus as much as possible...that hellish waiting period will not be happening to me anymore...muahahaha

Parking

I am not a fan of paying for parking...

Paying for parking to enter a shopping complex - ok
reasoning: there are cctvs and pak guards, so safety of your car is quite insured

Paying for parking to enter a shopping complex that cost too much (most shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur) - big no-no
reasoning: look at other shopping complex in other places, per entry is normally rm1, there are some that are free...Pavillion for example, you are a big, hip and famous shopping complex, the renting of spaces in pavillion is already sky high (guessing, but probably right), but still you need people to pay for parking as high as rm7 for a few hours.

Come on la...Someday I would also like to bring my gf or friends shopping...I don't want to waste my freaking money on parking, when I can buy something nice for my gf or for me...

Paying for parking at open places - big no-no
reasoning: there are no cctvs and no pak guards...no one can feel safe...no one cares if your car get stolen or someone tries to hentam your car la...MBPJ or DBKL or any other council, please do not saman...Don't you already get enough money from taxpayers? Why give out saman for parking too?

Notorious Open Places that People Pay for Parking:
Komuter parking lot, Monorail
parking lot, LRT parking lot, parking place beside the rows of shops and so on

I'm not that stingy about money, but there are some places that are just ridiculous...I don't want to waste all my hard earned money on parking...that's all

They usually put up signs like "We are not responsible for any car stolen or vandalized".
So why should we pay them...
if your car's front window gets broken into pieces, not only do you have to pay for the repairs, but also the parking fees...haha...think about it

Train Service in Malaysia - Monorail

I'm currently pissed off with the Monorail service in Malaysia...to be more precise, from KL Sentral station to a specific station...

monorail, KL Sentral to Raja Chulan = About 20 minutes
komuter, Kepong to KL Sentral = About 20 minutes

and you call yourself fast...Mr Monarail...You should be ashamed of yourself...people always assume you're the hare and the komuter, the slow turtle...but to me your both turtles, but one is big and the other is small...

the monorail takes shorter routes to nearby locations, whilst the komuter is quite the opposite...the monorail is mainly in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, while the Komuter range from all over KL, Selangor and a bit of N.Sembilan.

ok...this doesn't really pisses me off that much, but please read the following scenario...
  1. Woke up a bit late. Need to hurry
  2. Got in the car and drove to the Komuter nearest to me and had to pay a fucking rm3 for parking...I get that we need to pay for parking, but why does it have to be rm3, rm1 is enough right...its not like you're actually looking after the cars, you just sit inside the booth and take the money maa...it's not like you get affected by the global oil price or the economy downfall...in this economy people will use public transport la...
  3. Rush into the station to buy tickets...wait 20 minutes or if I'm lucky(not), I've just missed the train or theres a problem(technical problem again huh)
  4. Reach KL Sentral, go out of train, then go out from KL Sentral...You need to circle around a construction place to get to the Monorail Station
  5. Tired from walking, I quickly buy the ticket and rush past people on the elevator...Remember...I'm already late
  6. Got on the platform...damn, I've just missed the train
  7. ding dong! Passengers. The next train will not be taking any passengers. Please wait for the following train. ding dong!
  8. Argh!!...then you will see me on my knees screaming endless swear word...
  9. Wait about 5 to 10 minutes for the nest train...and now there are whole lot more people wanting to take that train...
  10. Reach the next station, and there are double the amount of people
  11. Finally arrived at the office, now facing the Boss and ...
I get it...Usually the Monorail stop taking passenger so that they can change the train - good idea
but the problem is that they do it around 9 a.m - bad idea, there are still people who wants to get to their office, still trying to be on time
why don't you do this (the train changing) on 11 a.m or other non-peak hours - great idea
or even better, try having a spare train ready at the space at the back of the station...so when the train that needs to be sent to the hangers go, the spare train can just go forward and take the happy passengers to their destination - f**king great idea

I'm just a low income dude, so I need the job, and most of my money are wasted on public transportation...Isn't public transportation suppose to be a public service to the rakyat?

If only the service was good & the fares are low, or either one of those...that would be great...

Train Service in Malaysia - Komuter

Im among the lower half of the totem pole, so to cut cost i use public transport...

I know many of you use the train to get around. Working people, students & those who wants to go shopping.

Can i say something?

Please, please, pretty-pretty please don't use the train when I'm using it...haha
I'm selfish, and please don't pretend that you're not selfish too...EVERYBODY is SELFISH...deal with it...

So, here are some things that irks me when using this service:

A) Train Service
  1. Its never on time -- not quite sure about this, i've been using the service a couple of years now to head to work & it varies on time
  2. "there is a technical problem...sorry for the inconvenience caused" -- everytime i hear it, a little bit of myself dies...And it happens alot... So don't be surprise if you hear someone dying while waiting for the train next week...that could be me...Seriously, how come the train everyday rosak maa
  3. Its always stopping in the middle of nowhere...not actually nowhere, but in between stations...im sick of it...Im already late, why the freaking hell are you stopping...
  4. NO BACKUP TRAINS...when one train breakdowns (which is always) there is no substitute train to take over...so people have to wait another 30 minits or 40 minits or 1 hour (they wait for the drivers to finish eating, then wait again for them to finish sleeping---this is only guessing work, i dont really know whats holding them up)
B) People taking the train
  1. We don't like your ringtone, so please don't assume that we want to hear your loud musical ringtone...it doesn't show that your hip, it just shows that your an idiot who don't have any common courtesy to other people.
  2. PLEASE TALK SLOWLY ON THE PHONE!! we don't want to hear your sex talks or your "i love you" or your "you hang up....no you hang up first...yeah i didnt hang up too"...its irritating...people are tired & they want some peace n quiet.
  3. Please don't cry...I actually saw someone crying becoz the train was so full (mcm sardin) & it seems she couldn't handle it...When you're taking the train, the only law that apply there is the LAW of the JUNGLE...the strongest will be victorious(will get a seat to sit on) & the weak will get pushed around or worse, they can't get on the train(ARGGGHHH, thats scary man...)
  4. Please do not lean on the pole in the trains (unless your a stripper, a hot stripper---then its ok)...People are trying to hold on to the pole so they wont fall over, they don't want your smelly, dirty, berkurap body rubbing against their hands
The blame should not be pointed 100% towards the managements(KTM, Monorail, LRT), because they are actually low on funds --- so they can't buy more high quality trains...So some blame can be put on the government aka the man upstairs--- give more funds to the public transport sector & if you can lower the fare, that would be nice...but if you can't, i would still settle for BETTER SERVICES...
